Mission and vision

Britain should be teeming with wildlife. Instead, our native species, from songbirds to insects and plankton, are collapsing making us one of the 12 most nature-depleted nations in the world. Rewilding Britain is the charity leading the charge of restoring our ecosystems. Rewilding Britain's mission is vital if humans are to address both the climate and biodiversity crises.

Vision

Rewilding Britain wants to see rewilding flourishing across Britain, reconnecting us with the natural world, sustaining communities and tackling the species extinction crisis and climate emergency.

Mission

To champion rewilding in Britain, acting as a catalyst for debate and action and demonstrating the power of working with nature to tackle the climate emergency and the extinction crisis.

What is rewilding?

Rewilding is the large-scale restoration of nature to the point where it can take care of itself. By restoring habitats and natural processes and, where appropriate, reintroducing missing species, rewilding can:

  • Boost biodiversity
  • Capture carbon
  • Mitigate floods and wildfires
  • Clean water and air
  • Improve health and wellbeing
  • Create jobs
  • Support communities
